Advanced Topics in Multidisciplinary Cancer Care in Lung Cancer Online Educational Event.

Lung Cancer is the largest cause of cancer-related mortality in both men and women and is the second most common cause of cancer diagnosed in both men and women. Although historically the outcomes for lung cancer patients have been poor, particularly in advanced stages of disease, there have been dramatic improvements in survival with the advent of newer immunotherapeutic agents and targeted therapies. An understanding of these recent changes in the staging of lung cancer and its treatment approaches is critical for the optimal management of patients with all stages of lung cancer.

In this educational session we will review recent data that will inform the modern management of patients with lung cancer across all stages of the disease. We will also discuss the current treatment algorithms based on stage and molecular profile of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Therefore this educations will have the following educational goals:

  • Understand the key changes in the Staging System and modern surgical management of resectable NSCLC (Dr. Garrett Walsh).
  • Understand the recent developments in the optimal management of locally advanced NSCLC (Dr. Steven Lin).
  • Emerging insights into incorporation of immunotherapy in the management of advanced NSCLC (Dr. Simon).
  • Appropriate selection of targeted therapy for patient of NSCLC with activating driver mutations (Dr. Simon).
